Chapter 1171

Boy Scout Troop 446

On June 16, 2001 the Flyin' Bears hosted Boy Scout Troop 446 to a Young Eagles Flight at the Craven County Airport.  Troop 446 camped at the airport and immersed themselves in flying activities for the weekend.  Besides flights down the Neuse River and over Cherry Point MCAS, the Scouts participated in lessons on aerodynamics, practiced flying in simulators and toured the Craven County Airport Terminal and Control Tower.  By the smiles on everyone's face I would say a great time was had by all.

Venture Flight

On April 20, 2000, the Flying Bears conducted a Young Eagles Flight for the Havelock/Cherry Point BSA Venture Crew 1171.  A beautiful clear Spring day provided the perfect backdrop for several of these teenagers first flight .  With the cooperation of Cherry Point controllers, the flight toured over Cherry Point MCAS, the kid's homes and their High School.  All Young Eagles thoroughly enjoyed themselves as well as developed a greater appreciation for the joy of flight.
